The 6th International Workshop on Advanced Laparoscopic Digestive Surgery -LAPAROSURG 2005 was held from the 17th to the 20th of November 2005 at GEM hospital, Coimbatore. LAPAROSURG 2006 set about to achieve what its predecessors had done to a large extent - TO CREATE CHANGE IN SURGICAL PRACTICE, ON A REAL TIME BASIS ! To achieve this in a palpable way an extensive ‘Work Manual' was created to aid the delegates learn at the workshop and serve as motivation to move up the learning curve!

The conference was attended by about 1280 surgeons from around the Indian sub-continent. Attendance from SAARC countries was up at this year's conference. The conference had over 10 leading international faculty contributing their best to the workshop. The conference maintained its relevance to native practice by being addressed by around 60 national faculty who provided a progressive yet balanced viewpoint. The content of the conference was exhaustive with the minimal access surgical therapy of both benign and malignant conditions from the oesophagus to the ano-rectum being covered. This necessitated the exhaustive over 25 Live operations and 20 Master-video sessions. This was supplemented by the lively interactive sessions and face-to-face meetings that were provided by the conference.

In a bid to provide for the learner as well as the established, a basic training site
was organized at the venue, which had a jam-packed attendance! The pictorial summary is descriptive of the 4 day academic feast. Analysis of the feedback for the conference has been extremely encouraging!
